The following sentences from the text extracted from Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe suggest that Okonkwo is depressed after killing Ikemefuna:

A "He felt like a drunken giant walking with the limbs of a mosquito."

Here it is used a simile to represent to what extent Okonkwo was depressed by the murder; he felt hopeless, full of despair like a giant of enormous proportions who cannot support himself with the thin limbs of a mosquito.

B "...Okonkwo sat for a very long time supporting his chin in his palms"

When used this gesture, it means that the person is in deeply thought and taking into account the very long time Okonkwo stayed in this position it reflects how afflicted Okonkwo was by the death of Ikemefuna.

C "A deathly silence descended on Okonkwo's compound"

Throughout the novel, the writer uses the silence as something negative and ominuous."A deathly silence" means that it is very quiet. Here the writer, Chinua Achebe, plays with the word "deathly" to emphasize the negativity of this silence after the killing of Ikemefuna.
