Jeremi is interested in healthy living, fitness and nutrition. He wants to make sure sugar makes up less than 10% of his food each day. About half of jeremi's food ir protein and healthy fats, two thirds of the remainder is complex carbohydrates like veggies and whole grains, and the rest of his food is sugary treats. What percent of Jeremi's current diet is sugary treats?

We are given that 1/2 of Jeremi's diet is protein and healthy fats, so we can eliminate that half and focus on the remaining portion. The remaining half can be written as 3/6, which aids in removing the 2/3 diet that are complex carbohydrates - we simply remove two of the 3 sixths, leaving 1/6 of Jeremi's diet as sugary treats. 1/6 is equal to 16.666...%.

This is the concept of arithmetic:
fraction of:
Protein+healthy fats=1/2
carbohydrates=2/3×1/2=1/3
sugary treats=1-(1/3+1/2)= 1/6
thus the percentage of sugary treats in the current diet will be:
(fraction of sugary treats)×(percentage of the diet)
=1/6×10
=10/6
=1 2/3 %
