Railroads influenced industrial development because they opened more markets, places to ship and sell products. They allowed goods to be transported at a much faster pace, they offered fuel economy, it allowed people who were unemployed the chance to have more job opportunities and because it was the first large corporation to turn a huge profit, it led to more industrial ideas.
