A native american adult is hospitalized. the emergency department assessment indicates auditory and visual hallucinations. the client states, "my dead father told me to kill myself to save me from the bad spirits." what would be an appropriate nursing intervention for the nursing care plan?

The appropriate nursing intervention would be to initiate a consultation with the hospital chaplain and the patient. Cultural competence in healthcare should be applied, in order for the patient to receive care services that meet his religious, cultural and spiritual needs. In this example, the hospital chaplain could provide spiritual guidance and counselling.
