a. Words
The number of feet is 3 times the number of yards.
The number of yards is one third of the number of feet.
b. Symbols
y = (1/3)f
y = f/3
c. Numbers
if y = 63, what is f?
plug the numbers
y = f/3
y = 63/3
y = 21
The number of yards is 21

it is saying for A that 3 feet is a yard, B is 3f=y or 1/3y=f and C isĀ 21 because 63/3 is 21
