The purpose of a warm up is to get your muscles and ligaments ready for the real action. The warm up gets your muscles stretched as well so you are able to do the activity without having to worry about any injuries.

The purpose of warming up is to prepare your body for exercise thus preventing muscle cramps and allowing your body to be not as exhausted after playing.
