Which words and phrases in the passage show bias? Cleopatra VII Cleopatra VII was born in 69 BC and was one of the most powerful rulers of ancient Egypt. (Most historians would agree) that she was one of the most controversial rulers. Her tragic story has inspired a number of famous books, plays, and films. Cleopatra was 18 when she came to power in 51 BC with her brother Ptolemy XIII. (I think) it was her remarkable beauty that made her such a great queen. However, (most records point out) that Cleopatra had to flee to Syria and gather an army there to win back Egypt from her brother. The Roman leader Julius Caesar met Cleopatra and fell in love with her around 48 BC. Caesar helped Cleopatra regain power by letting her use his military. (It is obvious that) without her good looks, she would not have been able to marry Caesar. Therefore, she would not have become the queen of Egypt without her striking appearance.
