Write an equation in slope intercept form that passes through the point (0,1) and is perpendicular to the line described by y=(1/8)x+4

perpendicular means the slope has to be the negative reciprocal of the slope of the line it is perpendicular to. (0,1) is a y-intercept so you just have to take the slope. Make it a negative reciprocal and plug in the y-intercept in the equation.

y = -8x + 1
