The equation y=−3.5x2−0.5x+65 models the height of a ball in inches for each bounce. NOTE it's 3.5x to the second power.

What is the best approximate for the height of the ball after the 3rd bounce?

7 in.

14 in.

32 in.

50 in.

Given equation is y = -3.5x
^(2)-0.5x+65

y represents the height of the ball and x represents the number of bounces.

After 3rd bounce, so plug in x= 3 in the given equation, we get

Y=-3.5(3)
^(2)-0.5(3) + 65

y = - 3.5 (9) - 0.5(3) + 65

y = - 31.5 - 1.5 + 65

y = -31.5 - 1.5 +65

Y = - 33 + 65

y = 32

So best approximate height of the ball after 3rd bounce is 32 in.
