Anthrax spores can be used to spread disease and fear. Bacillus anthracis is the source of these spores. They are considered a Category A type of agent, which means they pose a national security threat. This is because they can be used in biological warfare. Their spores are very sturdy and can be ground to a powder consistency that, when inhaled or even touched, can already cause lesions and all the other sequelae that we know of anthrax. Interestingly, Bacillus anthracis can actually be simply found in the soil.
