A 22,800-gallon swimming pool is being filled by four hoses. Water flows through each hose at a rate of 300 gallons per hour. How many hours will it take to fill the pool?

Answer: 19 hours

Explanation:

Given: The capacity of the swimming pool is 22,800.

Rate of water flow =300 gallons per hour.

The number of hoses = 4

Then , the amount of water flows by 4 hoses is given by :-


4*300=1200

⇒ The increase in the water level in the swimming pool in one hour= 1200 gallon.

Then , the time taken to fill the pool is given by :-


T=(22800)/(1200)=19\text{ hours}
