The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) was founded in 1909 by the National Negro Committee. This organization aimed to protect the rights of all citizens guaranteed by the 13th, 14th, and 15th amendments . These amendments are also known as the Civil War Amendments, because they took place after the Civil War ended and they wanted to ensure the rights, freedom and equity for the former slaved population. Despite these amendments, the racial discrimination was still an issue in the US and that is why the NAACP tried to protect their rights and promote inclusion with the legal support of these amendments.
