To solve the problem you should know that 1 foot is 12 inches. So we have to do the conversion
(4feet) * ((12in) / (1foot)) = 48in.
Then the ratio sought is
36/48
simplifying we have
= 18/24
= 9/12
= 3/4
answer
the ratio is 3: 4
