You observe that your cat sprawls on the cool tile floor in the kitchen on hot summer days and curls up in front of a heating vent in the winter. This suggests that

A)Cats have trouble thermoregulating
B)Something is wrong with the cat's hypothalamus
C)Behavior can play a role in homeostasis
D)Cats know how to find the most comfortable place in a house.

The answer is either A or B but I believe it's A because the hypothalamus plays a bigger role in behavior. Also thermoregulating has the root word thermo from heat.

Answer: C)Behavior can play a role in homeostasis.

Homeostasis is the internal environment maintained by a living organism against the outer unfavorable environment, which allows it to survive. The organism attains an equilibrium state by controlling variable such as body temperature, and the fluid balance.

The cat in the given situation is maintaining homeostasis as the cool tile floor in the kitchen will provide coolness to the cat in hot summer days. Also the cat will curl up in the font of a heating vent in the winter the heater will provide warmness to the cat.
