Rounding to the Nearest Thousand

___________________________________________

Hello! So...

We are given the following:

Round to the nearest thousand.

32,378

Well, when you want to round to the nearest 'thousand', you really just need to go right of the decimal point and see if the number in the tenths place is greater than or equal to 5. Considering 3 in this case is less than 5, it automatically cancels out the remaining numbers, leaving us with just 32,000.

Hence, out solution is
32,000, when rounded to the nearest thousand.

Hope this helps!

Your welcome

Note that the thousands place is four moves to the left of the decimal point (if it exists). To round to the nearest thousand (nearest 1000), we use the hundreds place to determine whether the thousands place rounds up or stays the same.
