The Bonus Army March demanded immediate payment of a bonus guaranteed to them after World War I. This march consisted of over 40,000 citizens, with roughly 17,000 World War I veterans showing up. The demand for the early payment of these bonuses was do to the onset of the Great Depression within the America. When the Bonus Army marched on Washington in 1932, millions of Americans were struggling financially due to the stock market crash and the increased unemployment rate.
