Glycocalyx is a substance that made biofilm. Biofilm is located in the membrane of the bacteria, forming a capsule-like form and giving them protection.
Biofilm could also prevent the white blood cells to identify it as a foreign object. Presence of a biofilm in a microorganism will increase its virulence as the bacteria can survive in harsh condition.
