To define complementary and supplementary, let me first define adjacent.
So, adjacent refers to two angles that share a side. Visualize a straight line with another line passing through it at an angle, like an x. The pairs of angles those lines create next to each other are adjacent--they share a side.
The relationship those pairs of angles have is supplementary. They are a pair of angles that make a straight line, therefore they add together to equal 180 degrees, and they are supplements of each other.
Complementary angles are similar to supplementary angles, but they add together to equal 90 degrees. They are complements of each other.
Vertical angles are those across from each other when two lines create an x (just like the diagram I had you visualize above). They are congruent.
To be congruent means to be identical, to have the same value.
