Explanation:

1. FIND the LCM (Lowest common multiple)


= (5)/(8) + (3)/(4) \\ \\ = (5 + 6)/(8) \\ \\ = (11)/(8)

Then you say to your self, How many 8's go into the LCM which is 8... The answer is 1, still using the first fraction (5/8) you say 1 x 5 with gives you 5 as you see above.

and so the same for 3/4.

And you get 11/8

The second part:


= ( - 2)/(3) - (5)/(6) \\ \\ = \frac{ - 4 -5 } {6} \\ \\ = ( - 9)/(6)

The it becomes:


(11)/(8) / ( - 9)/(6)

put that in the calculator and the answer is...
