The United State supported Mujahedeen in Afghanistan because they were resisting the Soviet invasion of their country. The United State supported the Mujahedeen against the Soviet backed Communist regime in Afghanistan and the Soviet army that was supporting it. The Mujahedeen are group of nationalist who fights for their freedom. The United States supplied equipment, supplies and weaponry and when the soviet withdraw from Afghanistan the supply of weaponry has many left over.
