The are the organisms that keep up the natural balance by breaking down decaying organisms. This process is called decomposition and it plays the most important role in the nutrient cycle as it is also responsible for recycling the matter which occupies space in the biosphere. So, in order to function as needed, these organism should have the greatest amount of biomass.
