Tricia and janine are roommates and leave houston on interstate 10 at the same time to visit their families for a long weekend. tricia travels west and janine travels east. if tricia's average speed is 2 miles per hour faster than janine's, find the speed of each if they are 330 miles apart in 2 hours and 30 minutes.

T=Tricia's speed; J=Janine's speed=T-2 mph
330mi/2.5hr=132 mph The combined speed of both is 132 mph
T+J=132 mph
T+T-2mph=132 mph
2T=134 mph
T=67 mph

ANSWER 1: Tricia's speed was 67 miles per hour.
J=T-2 mph=67 mph - 2 mph=65 mph
ANSWER 2: Janine's speed was 65 miles per hour.
