a=2×b
a+b=$750
2b+b=$750
3b=750/3
b=$250
a=2×b
a=2×$250

if the cost the washer and a dryer is $750 what is the cost of the dryer?
let the cost of the dryer be x so the cost of the washer will be 2x
so when we combine the two items the sum will be x+2x=$750
3x=750
x=$250
so the dryer costs $250
