I believe the answer is subtyping can lead to stereotype perpetuation.

Subtyping refers to placing a certain characteristic under a category. (such as gays must be good in fashion, or Gays must be constantly do drugs, etc)
If subtyping is enforced by the majority members of society, it would develop a certin stereotype that might negatively affect specific member of social group.
