Area is calculated by multiplying the length of a shape by its width. In this case, we could work out the area of this rectangle even if it wasn't on squared paper, just by working out 5cm x 5cm = 25cm² (the shape is not drawn to scale).

Answer: 5.5inch

Explanation:

so a square area formula is side x side so thats 1inch

triangle is base x height divided by one half(1/2) so 3x3 is 9 divided by 1/2 is 4.5inch

now since you have combined figures, you add both products together which will give you 5.5inch.
