The first thing you should do is add the whole numbers of each month:
4 + 9 + 0 = 13
The second is to round the decimals to the nearest whole number:
0.98 + 0.27 + 0.62
0.98 is approximately 1
0.27 + 0.62 = 0.89
0.89 is approximately 1
We have then:
0.98 + 0.27 + 0.62 is approximately 2.
Then, we add both numbers:
13 + 2 = 15
answer:
the total rainfall for the three months by using front-end estimation is
3. about 15 in.
