Solve the problem.

Center City East Parking Garage has a capacity of 253 cars more than Center City West Parking Garage. If the
combined capacity for the two garages is 1215 cars, find the capacity for each garage.

Let assume
E for center city East parking
W for center city west parking
So
E+W=1215……..* but
E =W+253 substitute this in *
w+253+w=1215
2W =1215-253
2W=962 divide both sides by 2
W =481(capacity of west parking garage)
To find E(capacity of East parking garage)
E=W+ 253 so
E=481+253
E=734 (capacity of East parking garage)
