Andrew Jackson was uneducated. Also, Henry Clay influenced the decision by using his power to not have him elected, he had John Adams elected over him.

Tell me if this helps!!

During the 1824 Presidential Election, no candidate had the majority of the vote and the House of Representatives had to choose one of the candidates. The House chose John Quincy Adams as president because Henry Clay was on the third position and was eliminated from the contest, but he controlled the proceedings in the House so he influenced the house to support Adams and when Adams was chosen, he became Secretary of State.
