The quartering act allowed for any British soldier to be served as guests in any household and stay there. The people were required to provide for them as well. This requirement did not anger the colonists as much as the added taxes to the Quartering Act. The Quartering Act also added a new type of taxes to fund military barracks and provisions for the soldiers.

Answer: They didn't want soldiers in their homes. They started to feel bitter towards the act and even opposed it.
