Malcolm's maximum speed is 80km/h faster than Ravis

let Malcom = m, and Ravi = r

(m + r)/2 = 260

m = 80 + r

Plug in 80 + r for m

((80 + r) + r)/2 = 260

Simplify. Multiply 2 to both sides

(80 + 2r)/2(2) = 260(2)

80 + 2r = 520

Isolate the r. Subtract 80 from both sides

80 (-80) + 2r = 520 (-80)

2r = 440

divide 2 from both sides

2r/2 = 440/2

r = 220

m = 220 + 80

m = 300

hope this helps
