3m - 5p = 12

3m(-3m) -5p = (-3m)+ 12
-5p = -3m + 12
(-5)/-5p = (-5)/ (-3m + 12)
p = 3/5m + 12/-5

This is a literal equation and in this case, we have to ISOLATE (or solve) for p.

So, to isolate p, move 3m to the other side as your first step.

Divide -5 from p and what you do to one side, you do to the other. So also divide -5 from 12-3m.

There's your answer.
