Each side of a square is 2x - 6 yards long. If the perimeter of the square is 72 yards what is the value of x?

72/4 (since it is a square; a square has 4 equal sides)

= 18

So, 2x-6= 18

2x-6= 18

Add 6 to both sides.

2x= 24

Divide by 2.

x=12
