To determine this simply take the number of miles and divide it by the total amount which is unknown, and make it equal to
60%.
Solving for the total number of miles,
45/x = 0.6
6/10x = 45
45/0.6 = x = 75 miles.
The solution would be 75 miles.

60% of trip = 45 miles
let total trip distance = l
60% is given by multiplying by 0.6
So;
0.6l = 45 \\ \\ l = \frac{45}{0.6} \\ \\ \boxed{l = 75}
Your answer is 75 miles
