The denser an object, the more compact it is. The table below shows the mass and volume of two different objects.

Comparison of Liquids
Liquid    Mass (g)           Volume
                                        cm3)
X             72                      12
Y             63                         9

Which of the two objects is more compact?
AObject X is more compact.
BObject Y is more compact.
CBoth objects are equally compact.
D This cannot be determined.

X: 72÷12=6
Y: 63÷9=7
so B, Y is more compact

Answer:

B) Object Y is more compact.

Explanation:

We have 2 objects, X and Y, with their respective masses and volumes.

Liquid Mass (g) Volume (cm³)

X 72 12

Y 63 9

The density (ρ) is equal to the mass (m) divided by the volume (V).

ρ = m/V

For these objects,

ρX = 72 g / 12 cm³ = 6.0 g/cm³

ρY = 63 g / 9 cm³ = 7.0 g/cm³

The denser an object, the more compact it is. Then, Object Y is more compact.
