The Kennedy administration imagined establishment of the Great Society and civil rights legislation. President Johnson brought these ideas to fruition. Kennedy wanted an America where people of color were were given the same rights and respect enjoyed by caucasians. The Great Society pushed forth by Johnson established a domestic peace corps, called VISTA (Volunteers In Service To America). The Kennedy ideals realized during the Johnson Administration enhanced the welfare of the United States through civil rights and anti-poverty initiatives.
