Answer:

The Patriot Act helps authorities stop terrorist plans by allowing the government to obtain any information about anyone, as well as surveillance and espionage measures, using informants within social organizations to suppress protests.

Step-by-step explanation:

Created in October 2001 by President George W. Bush, the USA Patriotic Act aims to facilitate the capture of terrorists and, to this end, allows security and intelligence agencies to harness the privacy of citizens.

Free of court order, this law gives agents the power to track e-mail, monitor Internet use, and staple phone calls. It obliges libraries and bookstores to report that books have searched for certain citizens and allows the detention of "suspects" for long periods.
