Which British policy convinced many American colonists that they should form their own country?

The Intolerable Acts did not allow the colonists to gather and have town meetings so they could not discuss the wrongdoings of the British government. This was a direct punishment of the Boston Tea Party. The Intolerable Acts was an attack to the colonists' personal freedoms. I also believe it closed the Boston Harbor?
