Answer:

Gary has to make 30 jumps to travel a distance of 9 meters

Explanation:

Complete Question

Greg Grasshopper has three cousins: Gary, Grant, and Garth. They all can jump 10

times farther than their length. Figure out how many jumps each cousin needs to

make to travel a distance of 9 meters. (Hint: There are 100 centimeters in a meter.)

Use numbers, sketches, or words to show your work.

a Gary is 3 centimeters long.

Gary has to make _______ jumps to travel a distance of 9 meters.

Solution

Given length of Gary
= 3 centimeters

As we know,
1 Meter
= 100 centimeters

Length of Gary in meters
= 0.03 meters

Now the distance covered in one jump is equal to

length of Gray x
10 (as Gary can jump 10 times farther than his length)

Distance covered in one jump

0.03 * 10\\

= 0.3 meter

So number of jumps required to cover a distance of
9 meters is equal to

(9)/(0.3) \\= 30

Thus, Gary has to make 30 jumps to travel a distance of 9 meters
