The difference of a number times 7 and 4 is equal to 6 using the variable y for the unknown number

This question would be written as an equation like so:
-y(7+4)=6

When we simplify the left side, we get this:
-11y=6

Now we undo the multiplication by dividing both sides by -11:
y= -0.545454545454 (and that goes on for forever)

Rounding off the answer, we get this:
y = -0.55
