What cultural considerations does a health care worker need to be aware of when addressing issues related to the female reproductive system?

Some physicians are aloof or awkward in addressing concerns regarding the female reproductive system as there are certain practices, beliefs, knowledge, and attitudes that can affect the patient’s interaction with a physician. Because of this, the physician may not be able to offer the proper management and the physician may be at risk for lawsuits. For instance, a patient with gynecologic problem refuses internal examination of the genitalia; the physician cannot make an objective examination and management will be compromised.
