A rectangle has an original area of 50 square feet. A similar rectangle has the new area of 1,250 square feet. What is the scale factor for the similar rectangles?

Hey there.

To find the scale factor between these two rectangles, we need to divide our new by our original.

Our new area = 1,250 sq ft
Our old area = 50 sq ft

1250 / 50 = 25.

This means our scale factor is 25.
