Answer:

17. The value of x= 11

and AEC = 40°

Explanation:

16.

Given : 32 = 2x + 4y , and x = 2

Substitution Property :

putting the value of x = 2 in the equation

=> 32 = 2(2) + 4y

=> 32 = 4 + 4y

Subtraction property of equality :

subtracting 4 from both sides

=> 32-4 = 4-4 + 4y

=> 28 = 4y

Division property of equality :

dividing by 4 from both sides

=> 28/4 = 4y/4

=> 7 = y

17.

∠AEC = ∠BED { vertically opposite angles }

=> 5x - 15 = 3x + 7

=> 5x - 3x = 7 + 15

=> 2x = 22

=> x = 22/2

=> x = 11

AEC = 5x - 15

=> 5 (11 ) - 15

=> 55 - 15

=> 40
