What are sets and reps in exercising?

I don't understand this so please explain it to me please!

reps is short-hand for "repetitions" so it is how many times you repeat the same exercise in a set.

number of sets in turn is how many time you repeat the whole "set" So like the example mentioned in the other ans, to do 10 sets of 10 reps for push-ups mean u will be doing 10x10=100 pushups.

ok so let's say someone tells you to do 10 sets of push-ups and 10 reps......so you do 10 push-ups and repeat that set of push-ups 10 more times.... so you will end up doing 100 push-ups. hope this helps :)
