7x - 28 = 7x-28
isolate the variable
7x-7x= -28+28
the answer would be zero
I may be wrong

It seems like you want to simplify 7(x-4)

If so, then multiply the outer 7 by each term inside (x and -4)
7 times x = 7x
7 times -4 = -28
Add up the results: 7x+(-28) = 7x-28

Therefore, 7(x-4) turns into 7x-28
