Water helps to maintain internal constant temperatures. Water acts as a temperature buffer. High temperatures affects chemical reactions in the body since it denatures enzymes which act at specific temperatures. When temperatures are high the rate of sweating increases, water on the surface of the skin evaporates thus cooling the body by a process called latent heat of vaporisation.
