To paint a sunset, Tran makes a shade of orange paint using 5 drops of red paint for every 8 drops of yellow paint. If Tran uses 15 drops of red paint, how many drops of yellow paint would he need?

5 / 8 = 15 / x....5 drops red to 8 drops yellow = 15 drops red to x drops yellow
cross multiply because this is a proportion
(5)(x) = (8)(15)
5x = 120
x = 120/5
x = 24 <=== 24 drops yellow
