The country then was England, now the United Kingdom. It was called the Holy Days and Fasting Days Act of 1551. As above it states that all must go to church during Christmas day, as part of the celebration. This was repealed in the Statute Act in 1969. Today, this law does not exist to any other country.

The correct answer is Great Britain/United kingdom. In 1551 the government of England enacted Holy days and fasting days act, which stated that citizens must attend the annual church services held on Christmas day and were supposed to walk since no vehicle was allowed to church on this day until it was repealed in 1969.
