The rise and span for a roof are shown. The pitch of a roof is the ratio of the rise to the half-span. If the rise is 8 feet and the span is 30 ft, What is the pitch in simplest form?

\bf \cfrac{\stackrel{rise}{8}}{\stackrel{span}{30}}\qquad \cfrac{\stackrel{rise}{8}}{\stackrel{half~span}{15}}\implies \cfrac{2\cdot 2\cdot 2}{3\cdot 5}\implies \cfrac{8}{15}

notice, 8 and 15, have no common factors, and thus the rational is not further divisible.
