All of these equations are two-step equations.
1. First subtract 5 from both sides to isolate the variable and have: 2x = 6.
Then divide each side by 2 to get: x = 3.
2. First add 1 to both sides to eliminate the -1 and have: 3n = 9.
Then divide both sides by 3 to get: n = 3.
3. First add 3 to both sides to get: 2a = -2.
Then divide both sides by 2 to get: a = -1.
4. First subtract 2 from both sides to get: -4y = -4
Then divide both sides by -4 and get: y = 1.
Hope this helps!
