selling souls for sugar relates to the conflict and compromise because  in 1800 there was a white population with lots of debts, since they were not producing enough to support themselves and they had a large population of slaves, so they decided to start selling souls for sugar, an action that did not please all the inhabitants, but shortly after slavery was abolished in the United States and the Caribbean people began to hire former slaves to work in exchange for money, with the "Compromise" not to sell more souls for sugar.
